De-sexing

Pet puppies are to be spayed or neutered.

Males
Male pet puppies should be de-sexed at the age of around 5-6 months. This reduces the pups need to mark it’s territory from other males and roaming around looking for females. It also eliminates the risk of testicular cancer and other certain kinds of tumors and unwanted litters of pups

Females
Female puppies should be de-sexed at the age of around 6 months. This will keep away male dogs in the neighborhood which could cause unwanted litters.

Un-desexed female pups will come into season from the age of 6- 12 months and will bleed for around 3 weeks every 6 months approx.
De-sexed females eliminates or reduces the occurrence of certain tumors including mammary, ovarian and uterine tumors, cysts and cancers.

Teeth

Puppies teeth need to be checked at 5-7 months of age for retained puppy teeth.  It would be a good idea to do this when de-sexing your puppy.
